Strange Metrics How-To

Practical instructions for tracked links, website installation, QR codes, conversions, funnels, geography, reporting, and account troubleshooting.

Getting started

  1. 1.Create a free account and confirm your email address.
  2. 2.Choose Start with tracked links if you want immediate click tracking without installing anything.
  3. 3.Choose Connect a website if you want full visitor, journey, event, funnel, conversion, campaign, and geography analytics.

Install website analytics

  1. 1.Open Dashboard → Manage → Install.
  2. 2.Choose the installation method that matches the website platform.
  3. 3.WordPress users can download a personalized plugin ZIP. Google Tag Manager users can download a personalized container import. Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, Webflow, Next.js/React, and custom sites have provider-specific instructions.
  4. 4.After installation, visit the website and return to the Installation Center or Live view to confirm that tracking is detected.

Create a tracked QR code

  1. 1.Open Dashboard → Acquisition → QR Codes.
  2. 2.Enter a label and destination URL.
  3. 3.Strange Metrics creates a QR code connected to its own tracked redirect so scans can be measured like tracked-link clicks.
  4. 4.Open the full-size QR image when you need to save or place it in print material.

Conversions

  1. 1.Use conversions to define outcomes that matter to the business, such as a lead, request quote, registration, purchase, or other important event.
  2. 2.Once configured, Strange Metrics connects conversions back to sessions, campaigns, tracked links, journeys, and funnels where attribution is available.

Funnels

  1. 1.Open Dashboard → Behavior → Funnels.
  2. 2.Create the ordered steps a visitor should complete.
  3. 3.Use funnel filters when a step needs to match a specific path, event, target, or other supported field.
  4. 4.Review completion and drop-off between steps to identify where visitors stop progressing.

Geography

  1. 1.Open Dashboard → Audience → Geography.
  2. 2.Use the 7-, 30-, or 90-day controls to change the reporting period.
  3. 3.Hover or click country hotspots on the world map to inspect session counts and traffic share.
  4. 4.Location is approximate network geography. It is not GPS or street-level tracking.

Reports and exports

  1. 1.Use Reports and the other dashboard sections to review performance over time, comparisons, trends, anomalies, campaigns, acquisition, behavior, and outcomes.
  2. 2.CSV exports are available for supported reporting views when you need to work with the data outside Strange Metrics.

Account and security

  1. 1.Use Logout whenever you need to end the current session.
  2. 2.If you forget your password, use Forgot your password? on the login page.
  3. 3.Password reset links are emailed to the account address and open a secure Strange Metrics password update flow.

Troubleshooting

  1. 1.If website tracking is not detected, confirm the project key and allowed domain match the site you installed.
  2. 2.Open browser DevTools → Network, search for collect, reload the page, and confirm a Strange Metrics collect request is sent successfully.
  3. 3.If a tracked link does not redirect, confirm the link is active and the destination URL is still valid.
  4. 4.If you still need help, contact support@strangemetrics.com.
